best buying
3 November 2005After careful consideration, I figured out what I needed this week. (1) I need the OC to be back on. How nice of Fox to take care of that for me (2) I need my friends to continue to let me get away with murder (like when anna said “This happens to me all the time,” and I replied “Well, it never effing happens to me.” Sweet, cristin. Or how I jammed the copy machine and didn’t fix it right before Whitney had to rush, like, 500 copies of something). (3) I need to play that Peter Gabriel song Solsbury Hill on repeat. Something to look forward to, Amy. (4) I need people to email me pictures of cute puppies and ponies. Emla and Courtney have it covered. And:
(5) I need to own Ashlee Simpson’s new CD.
Before you judge me, think about it for a second: if you going to go the self involved/ indulgent route, who better than Ashlee to accompany you on the way? Originally I was going to go with Now That’s What I Call Music 20, which I have been threatening Amy with since the commercials started running, but at the end of the day, it’s hard to beat Ashlee.
To that end, I went to Best Buy after leaving work at 4:58 yesterday to grab the younger Simpson’s sophomore effort, “I Am Me.” (ohmygod that title is SO totally deep and yet so totally understated its just SO PERFECT and so totally ashlee and I’m SO excited she’s blonde again, you know??)
Naturally, as I was wandering through the Action DVD section while holding the Ashlee in my hand, I run into someone from college that I haven’t seen in two years. And as soon as we started talking, I started trying to come up with excuses in my head so I can be prepared.
It’s not mine! It’s for my roommate! I tutor underprivileged children and it’s for them!
Turned out to be unnecessary, as he didn’t notice. Phew.
I’m sorry, Ashlee. I’ll never deny you again.
