New Favorite
4 August 2008Review of Little Brother Peej’s show in Seattle:
In frequent chats with the audience, the vocalist captured a wide appeal, expressing his love for Nirvana(but not Bleach) and marveling at the proximity of the venue to the Space Needle(as a disarming tourist). I should mention here he scored early points with me for keeping the now trademarkable “Pre-Portman Banhart Beard.” He might have even physically touched every audience member during his many leaps offstage. He performed his duties for one song while seated at the bar and ordered a drink in some kind of frantic drum beat, the bartender seeming to understand the request. At another point, he found a shoulder ride around the floor and divulged sincere appreciation, as he had never done that before at a show. With PBR and Keystone Light lubricating the floor to slip ‘n slide-like conditions, his dark mop gladly swabbed the surface in side to side jerks of the neck. Mind you, this was no solitary act. He was simultaneously playing a breathy harmonica on pious knees and offering a continuation to the recent ellipsis of David Sedaris (When you Are Engulfed in Flames…Stop, Drop, and Roll in Beer!).
I realize it may be sophomoric to focus all of my attention on the voice of Titus Andronicus, but so it goes that an audience will gawk at the follies of a self-destructive and uncomfortably intimate protagonist.
Emphasis added as it only can be by someone who shared a bathroom with the self-destructive and uncomfortably intimate protagonist.
And this is an old one, but my other favorite. For the time being.

How long before the indie community realize that you are his sister and blog about Patrick often enough to deserve a mention on a blog?
